"Snippet folders feel unnecessarily chaotic"
The snippet folders are kind of a mess. It takes way too long to find what I need, and it just feels like a basic respect-for-users thing to keep organizing tools clear and easy to navigate.

"Useful, but not as smooth across devices"
I used TextExpander for work and it was okay on my Mac, but it started getting frustrating once I needed to use Windows too. Some snippets didn’t behave the same, and moving between devices just felt kind of messy. It would also be nice if there was better support for Android or Linux, because not everyone is only using Apple stuff. For the price, I expected it to feel more consistent everywhere. It’s still useful, but they make it more annoying than it needs to be.

"Feels a Bit Overpriced"
It works okay, but it just feels too pricey for what it actually does. I expected a bit more for the cost, and for me, the price just doesn’t really match the value

"TextExpander has been freezing on me lately"
I’ve been using TextExpander for work, and lately it’s been kind of unreliable. Sometimes my snippets just don’t expand, the app freezes, or I have to restart it more often than I’d like. It also randomly stops working in certain apps, which is frustrating when I’m trying to get through stuff quickly. I don’t want to be too harsh because when it works, it’s genuinely useful, but right now it’s been more trouble than I expected

"Not a Great Fit for How I Work"
I really wanted to like it, but as someone who prefers tools that feel intuitive right away, I got confused quickly by the setup and shortcuts. It felt like I had to spend too much time just learning how to use it, and eventually I got frustrated and gave up.

"I’ve been using it for a…"
I’ve been using it for a bit, and the workflow sync just feels kinda clunky. It works, but it doesn’t feel as smooth as I’d hoped, and I find myself having to double-check things more than I’d like.

"Useful app, but support could be better"
The app itself is useful, and I do get value out of it. But maybe it’s just me, I expected the support to be a bit faster for a paid tool. I had a billing question and ended up waiting a few days before getting a real response. When they finally replied, it felt a little generic and didn’t really address things as clearly as I’d hoped. Not a terrible experience overall, but definitely not as smooth as I expected

"I liked the idea of the app at..."
I liked the idea of the app at first, but it asking for so much typing access felt unnecessary and made me uncomfortable. The privacy settings weren’t very clear either, so I ended up deleting it.

"I felt kind of embarrassed relying on it"
I really wanted to like textexpander.com, but the expansions just haven’t been reliable for me. Sometimes they show up like they’re supposed to, and other times absolutely nothing happens, so I end up awkwardly typing everything out myself anyway. It’s a little embarrassing when I’m in the middle of work and expecting it to save me time, but instead I’m fumbling around trying to figure out why it didn’t trigger. I tried restarting and double-checking the settings, but the same thing kept happening. It just got frustrating fast, and for me, it’s not worth it.

"I just wanted to move my snippets..."
I just wanted to move my snippets out cleanly, which I foolishly assumed would be a simple thing. Instead, the import/export process turned into a messy little adventure. Really annoying, but hey, who doesn’t love wasting time on something that should’ve taken two clicks?

"Works well, but I expected clearer billing"
TextExpander itself works fine, and I didn’t have any major issues using it. I just expected the billing details to be easier to find. I had to poke around a bit to figure out the charges and renewal info, which was a little frustrating. It’s not a dealbreaker, but I think they could be more upfront about that part.

"Works, but I kept feeling annoyed using it"
I mostly tried TextExpander for creating snippets, and I’m kind of torn on it. On one hand, it does what it’s supposed to do, and making basic snippets isn’t hard. But once I started editing them or trying to keep everything organized, it got frustrating quickly. Some settings felt like they were tucked away, and I kept having to click around more than I expected. It’s not a bad tool, but for the price, I expected it to feel a lot smoother and more intuitive.

Really frustrating when I don’t have internet. Snippets don’t load properly, and then it throws off my whole workday. Expected it to be more reliable offline.

"We tried TextExpander for our small…"
We tried TextExpander for our small team, and the sharing setup turned into a constant headache. Some snippets wouldn’t show up for certain people, the permissions were confusing, and I kept having to resend invites just to get everyone on the same page. I went through the support links, but they didn’t help me solve it quickly, so I ended up escalating the issue because it was slowing down our team. For a paid team tool, it made simple things take longer than they should. We decided it wasn’t worth it for us.

"A Bit More Complicated Than I Needed"
I really wanted to like textexpander, but it wasn’t as straightforward as I thought it would be. Setting up snippets took way longer than expected, and I kept getting lost in the menus, which felt kind of unnecessary for something that’s supposed to save time. It does work sometimes, but for everyday use it just felt a little clunky. Maybe it’s great if you’re willing to spend time learning it, but I was just looking for something simple.
"Didn’t really save me the time I expected"
I tried TextExpander because I type a lot of the same phrases and responses during the day, so in theory it seemed like the kind of thing that should make my life easier. I figured I’d set up a few shortcuts, get used to them, and slowly stop wasting time typing the same sentences over and over again.
In practice, though, it ended up feeling like another little system I had to manage. I kept forgetting which shortcuts I made, or I’d type something normally and it would expand when I wasn’t expecting it to, which meant I had to stop, undo it, and fix what I was doing. That probably sounds minor, but when it happens in the middle of trying to get work done, it gets irritating quickly.
I can see how it might be useful for someone who has a very specific workflow and a better memory for shortcuts than I do, but for me it just didn’t pay off. I spent more time setting things up, adjusting snippets, and correcting weird expansions than I actually saved, so it never really became the time-saver I was hoping for.

"Kind of Regret Buying It"
I picked up TextExpander thinking it would make things easier between my laptop and phone, but I’m kinda regretting it. The snippets just don’t stay synced properly. Sometimes an update shows up hours later, and other times it doesn’t seem to show up at all. For something that’s supposed to save time and work across devices, it really defeats the purpose. Frustrating experience overall.
"Rich text formatting still makes me sigh"
I mostly use TextExpander for email replies, the plain text stuff is totally fine. But the second I try anything with rich formatting, I’m like, “ugh, why did it paste like that?” Bold text, links, bullets, sometimes they come through okay, and other times the spacing gets weird or things just don’t look right.
For what it costs, I kind of expected it to feel more polished. I still use it because some shortcuts genuinely save me time, but when I have to go back and fix the formatting after expanding something, it feels like the whole point gets undercut. Not awful, just one of those little things that instantly annoys me.
"Felt a bit limited and left in the dark"
I really wanted to like TextExpander, but it ended up feeling too limited for how I wanted to use it. Every time I tried to customize things my own way, I either hit a wall or had to use some awkward workaround. It also kind of left me in the dark at times, like I wasn’t sure if I was missing a setting or if the feature just wasn’t there. For the price, I expected a lot more control and flexibility
